In November 2018, the Tell Me Team collaborated on the “Urban Explorations” project during the Nairobi Festival of Performance and Media Arts (NFPMA), themed “Colour of Peace.” This project, part of ongoing German-Kenyan artistic collaboration, featured lectures, workshops, and performances, filmed by festival director Kefa Oiro.
The team worked with Nairobi artists to explore the relationship between art and urban spaces, using Mathare, one of Nairobi’s largest slums, as the setting for contemporary dance performances. Local residents also participated, adapting their movements to the urban environment.
The short films and live choreographies were later presented in a dialogue at Goethe Theatre Nairobi, contrasting the structured theater setting with the vibrant urban space.
