Oruda is luo a cliché word for an unorthodox transformation from rural to urban reality, fashions and trends, the female dancer explores the journey at a superficial and societal level. Jua kali is a Swahili word used as a metaphor for informal sector of the Kenyan economy, here the male dancer explores the permeations of urban reality at a personal level with the deeper resonance of his environment. This piece investigates the meeting of these two realities on the same stage, focusing on femininity and masculinity.
