“Where is home and what do I consider home”
Kepha Oiro (dancer & choreographer from Kenya) initiated the meeting between Andre Jolles (Germany) and Robert Ngoroma (Tanzania).A meeting following personal stories of their origin with uncertain outcome.
The two meet under a platform of BUGOBOGOBO, a traditional -ritual event, held by Sukuma Tribe found in northern Tanzania, an event that collectively brings elements of nature and the community together, through of a process of farming, cooperation, sacrifice and celebration.
The performers create music, movement, and construction. in telling their stories using the spirit of Bugobogobo, in connecting with their past, reconstructing memories, and dealing with cultural differences, such as religion, language, colonialism and sensitive memories. This interaction leads the performers in new artistic territories and confrontation an age-old question, WHERE IS HOME!
Exhibition
The performance begins with 30mins of video and photographic exhibitions of stories and processes of the two performers. Within the exhibition are stories of students and participants that have been through digital storytelling workshops.
Guest participants
Within the performance, between 7 and 8 local dancers or artists are invited and integrated, to be part of the construction.
