About Me

I grew up in the Eastlands slum of Nairobi, working as a garbage collector and often finding myself on the wrong side of the law. My life took a turn when I attended a UN-Habitat Safer Cities concert called “Looking to the East – A Safer City.” There, I met a young man involved in Kilimanjaro Initiative, which organizes annual climbs up Mount Kilimanjaro. I joined the climb, meeting influential people who changed my outlook on life and gave me a new sense of self-worth.

Returning home, I became a community youth leader in the Makongeni neighborhood and began working closely with the City Council of Nairobi on their Safer Nairobi Initiative. I also participated in the International Youth Crime Prevention and Cities Summit in Durban, South Africa, which further fueled my commitment to change. The transformation in my life surprised many, including local police and young people, who now looked up to me as a role model.

Today, I dedicate my time to mobilizing youth through community projects, skills developement and positive action. I’ve established a car garage, Conspic Automobile Ltd, and as the co-founder and chairman of Tuchangamke Group, I lead initiatives aimed at uplifting the community. The Safer Cities approach gave me a second chance, and I’m committed to helping others find theirs.
